This small family business (approximately 8 hectares in vines which are entirely close-planted) is now managed by the second generation Michael Dhillon. As its name, the Original Vineyard has the oldest vines of Bindi planted in 1988 when the winery was established, and is grown on the lower slope where the soils are less rocky and less volcanic than the soils of Block 5 Vineyard planted in 1992. As a consequence of the unique 'terroir', Bindi's Pinot Noir wines mature distinctively: light and weightless at the youthful stage whereas getting denser and darker after the aging. Spending 15-17 months in about 25% new French barriques. All wines are made in very limited productions.

All the 2019 wines were tasted in barrels. Bindi Dixon Pinot Noir 2019 was perfumed and vivid but solemn on the taste with defined minerality. Austerely mineral-driven Bindi Kaye Pinot Noir 2019 had delicately refined and quite complete sniffs of dried rose, red cherry, cranberry, black plum, stone, sweet spices (cinnamon, red liquorice), earth and subtle leather. Showing evidently tertiary aromas of barnyard, red liquorice, mushroom and hawthorn, Bindi Original Vineyard Pinot Noir 1997 was dense and dark on the taste but was still fresh due to salivary acid. Bindi Original Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015 possessed very massive tannins suffused the ethereal and mineral-laced mouthfeel. Perfumed Bindi Original Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017 was as light as Bindi Original Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018, but it had more texture and intensity. I was enamoured of the stately and limpid aroma of Bindi Original Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019 that diffused an array of violet…(for all the details, please subscribe)…all terminating in a pure finish that revealed fragrant florality and subtle ethereality. Brightly acidic and firmly tannic Bindi Block 5 Pinot Noir 2010 displayed lots of dried fruits, black fruits, dried rose and stone aromas. Bindi Block 5 Pinot Noir 2018 was very closed on both nose and palate. The utterly ethereal taste of Bindi Block 5 Pinot Noir 2019 was almost like a Chambolle-Musigny.
