J.Confuron Cotetidot is one of the top domaines in Vosne-Romanee. The operator Yves Confuron is also the winemaker of Domaine de Courcel in Pommard. He follows his family tradition of using old vines (65 years old on average), whole-bunch fermentation, limited new oak (less than 20% for the village wines and premiers crus while up to 50% for the grands crus) and picking very late so as to ensure the ripe stems. Yves' wines are classical, and they need the aging to show their best. As the largest holder of Les Suchots, the estate owns over 2 hectares of the vineyard.

The 2018 and the 2019 were tasted in barrels. Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot “Craipillot” 2018 had a bit of density offset by brightly linear acid and quite sturdy tannin. Surprisingly fresh for a 30-year-old Les Suchots, Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot “Les Suchots” 1990 was slightly softer than Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot “Les Suchots” 1996 that was very solemn on the palate. Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot “Les Suchots” 1999 was austerely rocky on both nose and palate. Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot “Les Suchots” 2007 displayed an underbrush-scented sniff interwoven with earth and black fruits. Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot “Les Suchots” 2008 was juicy on the taste with very massive tannins. Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot “Les Suchots” 2014 possessed much more red fruit (hardly any black fruit) than other vintages of the lineup, and it's the most energetic one. The wine had even more amazing longevity than Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot “Les Suchots” 1990 and Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot “Les Suchots” 1999--drink it over the next 30 years. Detailed and textured Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot “Les Suchots” 2017 was decently ripe on the nose of violet, black cherry and stone. Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot “Les Suchots” 2019 exhibited lovely depth and dense tannin. Showing lovely smoothness though there was evident firmness that led to an austere finish, perfumed and floral Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot Mazis-Chambertin 2018 was much fresher than Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot Charmes-Chambertin 2018. Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot Mazis-Chambertin 2019 possessed lovely brightness and freshness.
