The winery has sent all samples of this tasting to our studio in Shanghai. Silver Height run by Yuan Gao has constantly made quality wines for many years since her first vintage in 2007. As the earliest cult wine of the country, the exceptional 2009 is the initial vintage of the super flagship Emma's Reserve. This used to be a straight Cabernet Sauvignon released in magnum only till 2015. Aging in 100% new French oak barrels for 24 months. Very rare (150 bottles). Showing incredible youthfulness on color, nose and mouthfeel. Silver Height Emma's Reserve 2009 was an absolute stunner after 5 minutes' aeration when the tertiary aromas such as barnyard and smoke vanished, soaring from the glass with precise and solemn yet graceful and complicated perfumes of flowers (nectar, gardenia, wild rose)…(for all the details, please subscribe)…an acidic and mineral-inflected finish that revealed superb vitality and subtle ethereality. Probably the perfect time for tasting. Undoubtedly the masterpiece of the estate--I'd like to call it 'Chateau Lafite Rothschild of China'. Silver Height Emma's Reserve 2015 was a lovely effort.
