Chateau Lagrange 1995 was incredible for the youthfulness and freshness. Herb, fresh cassis, leather and stone scents with just a tint of tertiary aromas such as black tea and liquorice. Still very tense on the mineral-inflected and elegant finale. Chateau Lagrange 1996 was highly evolved bouquets of liquorice, coffee, dried fruits, walnut and tobacco. Chateau Lagrange 2019 combines 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. Somewhat reticent while stunning and attractive on the aroma that was dominated by…(for all the details, please subscribe)…toward the polished and acidic end that possessed evident tension underneath buffered by refreshing and ample fruitiness. As always, it would be more complex and more expressive in five plus years and be enjoyed for three decades or more. The vintage with the lowest yield for Lagrange so far, Chateau Lagrange 2020 is an integration of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. As solemn, pure and finesse-styled as Chateau Lagrange 2019, but revealing more intensity, roundness and texture than Chateau Lagrange 2019.
